Target: Webinar to present results of Congolese perceptions on electoral reforms

The Congolese government scheduled the next elections in 2023. Irregularities characterized the previous elections of 2006, 2011, and 2018, subject to much criticism and contestation.

Civil society and the political class are currently raising their voices to demand reforms for credible, transparent, and peaceful elections in 2023. It is precisely around electoral reforms that Target has conducted its survey and will release results on Friday, June 25, 2021, during a webinar.

The public raised numerous points, such as the return to two-round presidential elections and majority voting for legislative elections, the election of a second degree presidential candidate by the Parliament, the obligation to be Congolese for a presidential candidate, the depoliticization of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), the right to vote for Congolese abroad, better representation for women and the abolition of the Senate. Target took into account these issues during the study.

Target interview a representative sample of Congolese on the phone from June 9 to 15, 2021. This presentation will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 am Kinshasa time (GMT+1) in Multi live (Zoom, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn). For the Zoom link, please, click here
