Voting Intentions in Lubumbashi
Target has followed Kamina and Kolwezi polls with the results of voting intentions in Lubumbashi, capital of the Haut Katanga.
In this poll, only 36% of respondents have clear-cut names of candidates they will be voting for; Jean de Dieu Mulenda of the PPRD (7%) is leading the way, followed by Vital Nsunzu of ACO (5%).
There are still some open rooms, however, with 43% of undecided respondents, and 21% with no candidate. Among them, 25% are women aged 35 and over.
Respondents in Lubumbashi were evenly split between majority and opposition candidates, with each political camp scoring 11%.
Jean de Dieu MULENDA was the most popular candidate among women, with a score of 9%, compared with 4% for Vital Nsunzu. These women were more likely to be in the 25 to 34 age range. Vital Nsunzu, on the other hand, is more popular with men, who are younger and split between the two categories, 18 to 24 and 25 to 34.
In third place is Jacques KYABULA, with the highest score in the 25-34 age group, and men outnumber women by 4% to 3%, a difference of 1%.
Christian Mwando is only mentioned by men (1%), all belonging to the 50+ category.
The survey's objectives were to find out how effectively the population is participating in the forthcoming elections, the factors influencing the choice of candidates for local elections, the favorite candidate to vote for, and the types of speeches that meet the population's expectations. Target surveyed from May 11 to 25, 2023, in the 4 provincial capitals of Greater Katanga, with a sample of 1,200 people.
